The Poverty Task Force welcomes Dominica McPherson as the new assistant coordinator!

About Dominica…

Joining the Poverty Task Force with a diverse skill set, Dominica has a wide range of experience working and volunteering with not-for-profit and community-based organizations. Passionate about community development, collaboration, and social and environmental justice, Dominica brings with her an appreciation for inclusive organizing and community action as means for positive social change. With a background in project development and volunteer management, she has developed a wide range of youth programs, including community garden initiatives and an international photography exchange. She holds a degree in International Development Studies from the University of Guelph and recently served two terms as the External Affairs Commissioner for the Central Student Association. As an advocate for student rights and interests, Dominica played an active role in lobbying the provincial and federal governments and coordinated numerous campaigns and projects, including Tap In and the Compass Network. More recently her focus has been on elections, working to break down the barriers to political participation and as coordinator of the We Are Guelph campaign. An initiative of the Guelph and District Labour Council, We Are Guelph put forward a community-based platform of issues for the municipal election. Dominica is excited to join the work of the Poverty Task Force!
